A blog without writers is like a shoe without a soul. Think about that for a minute.
David Chalk: Editor and Chief: Still writes at Bugs&Cranks where he grew to prominence as an internet professional baseball writer, and occasionally at Yahoo’s Big League Stew. He writes about other sports every Tuesday on NESW Sports. Chalk’s writing has also graced the internet pages of East Windup Chronicle, Deadspin, Walkoff Walk, Diamond Hoggers and Sharapova’s Thigh. Follow Chalk on Twitter @dichalk.
Ethan Jaynes: Site Owner and Contributor: That’s me! I am your friendly neighborhood Blog Network founder of NESW blogs.com . Here is my about page. Follow me on Twitter @EthanJaynes.
Ryan Henning: Ryan Henning can be found all around the internet blogging on all manner of topics. A professional meteorologist, he writes on the weather at The Weather Blog, a part of Victoria-Weather. He is also the editor of a general sports blog, the Victoria Times, which started as a pet project and turned into gigs writing hockey at Barry Melrose Rocks and baseball, his first love, at the ‘Stache. Ryan was born in Minnesota, but spent enough time in Indiana where he went to school that people might think he is from there. He is a die hard Twins fan who has not drank the Ron Gardenhire Kool-Aid. He lives in the Twin Cities area with his dog, who could not care less about baseball.
Kevin Lager: Growing up on the bountiful Canadian prairies – no where even remotely close to an MLB diamond – Kevin proved he was a sucker for punishment at a young age by deciding to cheer for the Montreal Expos. Convinced that his heart hadn’t been broken enough over his baseball-rooting life (and stubbornly unwilling to follow “his” team to Washington), Kevin let favourable experiences visiting Chicago convince him to support the Cubs. Needless to say, Kevin spends a lot of summers with his face planted deep in his palm. Kevin and Independent Baseball arrived in Calgary one after another, and an obsessive love has blossomed. Being there live as the Calgary Vipers won the 2009 Golden Baseball League Championship was and will probably always be the pinnacle of Kevin’s fandom. That, and catching a foul ball off the bat of Kevin “Pcondoleezza” Price just before it nearly crushed his brother’s you-know-whats. Aside from baseball (and ballpark food), Kevin checks off beer, hockey, 60s and 70s R&B & Reggae, Tom Waits, Joe Strummer, Brian Wilson, flicks staring Gary Cooper/Jimmy Stewart/Fred Astaire/Grace Kelly, and colourful sports jerseys as his favourite things that likely won’t love him back. Follow Kevin on Twitter @xolager.
TheNaturalMevs: is a 27 year old resident of the Columbus, Ohio area. After finishing a collegiate baseball career, he began writing for Diamond Hoggers. An avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Mevs loves all things baseball and brings together a passion for the sport as well as a sense of humor. You can follow him on Twitter at http://twitter.com/DiamondHoggers.
Jack Hittinger: Jack Hittinger was born in Illinois but spent his formative years in Michigan. Thus, he considers himself a Michigander (not, I repeat NOT!, a “Michiganian”— looking at you, Detroit News!) and avidly follows the Tigers and MSU Spartans as well as the Red Wings, Pistons and “Lions”. And if people actually followed Division II athletics, he would surely be an avid fan of his alma mater, the Hillsdale College Chargers. But no one actually follows D-II so he doesn’t have to burden himself unless they make the playoffs or something. By day he covers high school sports at a small newspaper in the Central Missouri Ozarks. By night… well, he has no nightlife, because working for a newspaper does that do you. He has also written for Bugs & Cranks and writes occasionally for The Other Fifteen. Besides writing, his interests include: books, beer, music, maps, the Midwest, Michigan, music criticism, irony, angry songwriters, fine tobaccos, playoff hockey, college basketball and lists (like this one). Find him on twitter @jackhitts.
Eric Doerr: Otherwise known as “Bird” due to an odd resemblance of Larry Legend and being born with the gift of flight, Eric Doerr is a 22 year old college student at the University of Nevada. He has been a diehard Athletics fan since Vida Blue introduced him to cocaine at the age of 7. Bird stumbles across as much irrelevant baseball news as relevant news, so he will occasionally chime in with the Peanuts and Crackerlinks page. He keeps a personal blog where he also writes and reports on occasional sports findings. You can follow him on Twitter at http://twitter.com/biird. Note: the Vida Blue thing never really happened.
Adam Cryer: Adam Cryer is a born and bred Okie who now lives in Texas. Since Oklahoma didn’t have a pro baseball team, as a child his allegiance bounced from team to team. Living close to the Texas border, he got to watch the Texas Rangers, and even though he’s been a fan of the Texas Rangers throughout his life, he just never fell in love with them. After claiming Don Mattingly as his favorite player back in 1987, he started learning about Yankees history, which obviously included fellow Okie Mickey Mantle. He’s been in love with the Yankees ever since. That said, he’ll readily admit to disliking a lot of Yankees fans, and promises not to pull any punches when it comes to telling it like it is where players or fans are concerned – especially if he can make someone laugh.
Paul Rice: White collar slob by day, obsessed baseball fan by night, Paul has been a rabid follower of everything baseball since his days wearing a flat-billed cap and stirrups in Little League. He has covered the Giants on his blog Give ‘Em Some Stankeye for the past couple of years, and covered the team for a brief period at Bugs and Cranks. He currently resides in Sacramento, and can be found with his head in the oven every time ESPN Classic replays Game Six of the 2002 World Series. You can follow Paul’s antics on Twitter @PaulieRice (http://twitter.com/PaulieRice) or email him your obscenity-laced criticisms at p_rice41@hotmail.com.
Ed Lover: Loves the Yankees and what’s you to know there’s something deeply wrongly with you if you don’t love them too. He hopes to use 7IS as a forum to combat the spreading epidemic of unbridled Yankee hatred, because people who hate excellence don’t belong in America.
