VIDEO: Sammy Sosa Bleached Skin On Univision

Ethan sent me this incredible six-minute video this morning and it’s visually stunning but we can’t understand much of it.  If any Spanish-speaking fans of Séptimo Episodio Stache could help out, we’d be much obliged.

Sammy Sosa, wearing a pretty sweet/hilarious outfit, appears on a Univision talk show and was posted to YouTube back in November.  Take a look/listen:

UPDATE: Big thanks to Brother Henry from The Global Sports Fraternity who is apparently minoring in Spanish.  His loose translation supports what Rudy was kind enough to drop in the comments.  I’ve bolded the funnest parts for the attention-challenged:

Starting at about 1:30, they ask him about his face — “You’re looking whiter than you used to, eh?”

Sammy — It’s just that the camera is more clear (they laugh)

Chick — Tell us about the process how do you care for your skin?

Sammy — Normally, It’s not much, I don’t have to do much with it, I like keeping it simple — I use a cream for it to keep it clear.  And when I go out in the sun I have to use lotion, but I have an easy life these days, not in the sun much all the time, so I put it on when i need to…but that’s about all.

Dude — Do people come up to you on the street and ask you about it a lot?

Sammy — All the time. (Sammy laughs). My lawyer actually called me and was like, “dude, wha’ happen?” And I was like, “I’m all good!”

Chick — Let’s take a look at the photo so we can better see it/explain it…

Dude — Now, see, we don’t have lights here like they do in the photo, so you look more normal here.  We don’t have lights like that… (chick is chiming in agreeing)

Sammy — No, no, not at all…it’s sort of like having a really strong “flash” from a camera on top of the lights…it’s too much.

(some back and forth between him and the chick I don’t fully understand, about Sammy always being in the light or something; Sammy is very amused by his own joke, but no one else laughs)

Dude — So you look lighter than before, and it’s from this cream…..it’s a European cream?  Where did you buy it?

Sammy — Yeah, in Europe….(then they go off on a back and forth about where he found it, how he uses it, and the before and after)

Chick — does your wife use it?

Sammy — No, because she’s blonde

Chick — so this is only for dark people, brunettes.

Sammy — Exactly.  It does a little, but can’t help people with light skin already.

Chick — does it clear up your skin, does it lighten it, does it change the consistency, what does it do?

Sammy — It does it all.  For darker people, it’s great.

Chick — Have you seen anyone else using this?

Sammy — I haven’t seen anyone else. But the same affect it had on me, it would on another person.

Dude — So lemme get this straight: you didn’t have the same problem as Michael Jackson?

Sammy — Nooo! I’m great!

Dude — I ask because some people are worried about you…

Sammy — Nope, nothing to worry about…thank you, but I feel fine. I feel at peace, I’m in good health.  I don’t have any problem.  I can see why some people might think that, even dial 911…but (laughing) i’m all good.

Chick — So how long have you been using the cream, how long does this process take?

Sammy — About 2 months.

Chick — 2 months.  That’s all?

Sammy — That’s it.

Chick — And you don’t go in the sun?

Sammy — No, no, no…

Chick — With this cream you’re not supposed to go in the sun?

Sammy — Well…I can be in the sun a bit, just nothing crazy

Chick — Just not to the beach…

Sammy — Right.

Then Dude goes off about some doctor in Beverly Hills or something.

Then it cuts to the end, where they basically wish Sammy a happy birthday (that’s why he’s on the show), thank him for coming on his birthday, and get one last closeup of the face.  Chick says: “He’s white, white, white!!!”
