Last year, I bought into MLB 2k9 by 2kSports.
It was the worst decision of my life. I would play the game and to be honest; getting through 9 innings was absolutely excruciating.
I would throw shit. I would cuss. If I had a pet I would have probably neglected it food, water, and toilet. This game (the only title offered for the XBOX 360 system) had ruined my life. It was supposed to be something that was enjoyable and fun. Instead, it became an exercise in futility to just complete a game without making my roomate and girlfriend hate me for the way I acted over it.
If you don’t want to believe me, the evidence is everywhere.
I was mad that I’d thrown away $60 on the game, and more then that I was mad that there was no way to even play my favorite sport on the video game console that I owned. I was out of luck for the entire season before it had even began. There would be no Jay Bruce or Joey Votto chasing down Barry Bonds’ record of 73 in my household. There’d be no Homer Bailey or Johnny Cueto Cy Young Awards.
Just a bunch of glitches.
The first baseman pulling himself off the bag a dozen times a game. Outfielders tripping eachother. Scores of either 2-1 every game or 20 to nothing, depending on which difficulty level it was set to. Constant tinkering of the ‘sliders’, which was basically hunting a ghost.
I went on the MLB 2k forums to complain about the game and received a prompt lifetime ban of posting there. I did not feel like a valued customer who simply just wanted the first baseman to record outs and the outfielders to not run out of the way of fly balls hit in their direction. I felt dirty, and I felt used.
I vowed on my soul to never purchase this miserable POS game again. And now I’m getting cold feet on keeping my word.
MLB 2k10 comes out in a few weeks, and I’m getting the cold sweats. I’m nervous that I might not stay strong and wait weeks until I can rent the game. You see, I want a hardcore baseball simulation that plays like real baseball and doesn’t have ridiculous glitches. Is that too much to ask?
Like an old girlfriend, I’ll probably allow her to come back and stay the night at some point. But I tell you what, if she fails me again; she’s out for good. I’ll never buy another baseball game for the XBOX 360. I’ll bash the brains in on my console.
I just need to remember why I hated this old game so much in the first place:

Hey I totally agree with you. I switched over to the show and I’m happy I did. The 2k game was ridicoulous horrible. I hate it seeming like you can’t throw a strike without it being hit a mile. The ez pick offs by pitchers, the switch hitter glitches. I will get it on the ps3 mlb2k10 but Im really hesitant, as I know that the gameplay will suck and its all about gameplay

Wow.
MLB Power Pros is enough for me. It’s the only baseball game were I actually finished a 162-game season.

I have the pc version of MLB2K9 and it’s pretty good – a lot better than MVP 2005. There was a patch released but I’m not sure what it fixed. The only glaring bug I’ve experienced has been the manager sunk into the field up to his waist on a mound visit. Plus, the pc version is only $19.99.
